Why does my high school provide this opportunity?

The Senior Year Plus program was enacted in 2008 to help students become more engaged in high school and to give them an opportunity to get a jump start on college.

Providing rigorous college credit opportunities helps students bridge the gap between completing high school and starting college. Joint enrollment through their local high school and Kirkwood Community College, provides students with the opportunity to supplement their high school curriculum with challenging college courses that award them high school credit and college credit that would not otherwise be available.

Kirkwood serves the Iowa county area schools with the following types of Senior Year Plus Programs:
  • Postsecondary Enrollment Options,  PSEO through Online ATAW courses and KTS Classes
  • Onsite Concurrent Enrollment Courses,  College credit courses onsite in the high schools
  • Career Academies,  Sequences of career focused, college credit classes
